High Schools Given 3000 Computers

MORE than 3000 computers have been allocated to 18 of the region's high schools as part of the Federal Government's digital revolution.
The first round of funding from the $1.1 billion National Secondary School Computer Fund provides funds for schools identified as being in most need of information technology investment.Member for Cunningham Sharon Bird said the $3.25 million funding in the Illawarra was an important first step."The first round of funding enables local high schools to close the gap on the computer to student ratio of 1:8 to 1:2," she said. The computer fund will provide 116,820 computers to Australian secondary schools, with schools receiving grants of $1000 per computer. Illawarra schools set to receive computers under the first round of funding are Bulli High School (223), Corrimal HS (90), Figtree HS (255), Edmund Rice College (151), Keira HS (187), Smith's Hill HS (209), Woonona HS (201), Wollongong HSPA (249), Para Meadows (5), Elonera Montessori (3), Illawarra Sports HS (285), Warilla HS (258), Dapto HS (233), Lake Illawarra HS (224), Albion Park HS (203), St Joseph's Catholic High School (290), Kanahooka HS (43) and Shellharbour Anglican College (43).
