Computer Part

Each computer part has a function in the operation of the computer unit. If one computer part is missing, your computer will not function efficiently and effectively.

Computer Part - Motherboard

The core computer part is the motherboard. It's the central or primary circuit board. This computer part provides the electrical connections and houses the central processing unit, and some of the peripheral components.

Computer Part - Hard Disk Drive (HDD)

Known as hard drive or hard disk, the HDD is a computer part that stores data. There are five types of HDD: the Integrated Drive Electronics (IDE), Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA), Small Computer System Interface (SCSI), Universal Serial Bus (USB), and FIREWIRE.

IDE is the most used hard disk which has at least 40 pin connectors. The SATA is identical with IDE and has the same function, but it is faster than the IDE. SATA is being used more and more and might eventually replace IDE.

Computer Part - Computer Monitor

Another computer part is the monitor. There are three types of computer monitors: the Cathode Ray Tube (CRT), the Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) flat panel monitor, and the Thin Film Transistor (TFT)-LCD monitor.

The CRT is the least expensive monitor in the market nowadays. It's quite bulky and comparatively has lower resolution. The LCD monitors are becoming common these days. The LCD monitors are quite thin and have better colour resolution than the CRT. The TFT-LCD monitors also have high level of resolution and sharpness.

Computer Part - CD/DVD and Floppy Disk Drives

The CD/DVD and floppy disk drives are also part of a computer. They can either be external or internal computer attachments. These computer parts can read and process data that are stored in CDs, DVDs, and floppy disks.
